Doll Quilt Swap #9

by Kate on June 30, 2010

I am participating in the ninth round of the Doll Quilt Swap, you can take a look at the flickr group here.

My partner selected some lovely quilts as part of their inspiration mosaic and one in particular caught my eye. When I saw Rita’s version last year, I knew I wanted to give it a go but I have always been put off by the amount of time I would need to commit to get it finished.

That’s the beauty about doll quilts, they allow you to try different layouts and techniques that on a large scale may be a little daunting. The pattern for this quilt can be found in Material Obsession 2.

I really enjoyed making this quilt, it did take a fair amount of time…especially when you consider it is only 21″ square but I am thrilled with the finished product.

It was a great confidence builder and when I have more time on my hands I would love to make it to scale.

Fingers crossed, my partner loves it as much as I do.

it is just beautiful, Kate. I have been wanting to try this pattern ever since I received Material Obsession 2 (I ordered it from the UK, so I didn't have to wait for it to become available in the US), but just haven't found the time. All those blues compliment the pattern so well…and the quilting is perfect!

that pattern looks great in blues. scrapping does take time commitment but if you love it and prepare the strips in advance it has direction and impulse. Glad I found it! kathy
