The Big Apple – Day 5

by Kate on July 30, 2010

I had no plans this morning so decided to catch a film and go for a stroll.

Five minutes into my walk, I felt as if I had entered another world…the world of the Upper East Side.

Things I noticed whilst on my walk.

  • Some really bad face lifts
  • Enough nannies to hold a nanny convention
  • A dog being pushed in a stroller which I immediately googled and found the exact model here
  • More diamonds than a De Beers diamond mine (the window displays of the jewellery stores where mind boggling, I spotted more than one 11 carat diamond ring).

this post made me chuckle. I am really enjoying your NY posts. I am sure you are having a fantastic time. I haven't been for about 10 years, would love to go back sometime. How many days are you there?

I'm loving your photography. Keep them coming. I can't imagine my Jock or Tora being pushed around in that stroller. Classic!

Thanks so much for your reports from NY. One of my favourite places in the world. If you can, go to see the Frick Collection – Henry Clay Frick's art collection in the mansion he had purpose built to house it. It's on the upper east side. A small gallery but well worth it.

Hmm so I should suggest that area for the shopping for my new ring then?! I mean seriously what does one do with an 11 carat ring??? Although maybe its handy for knuckle dusting as one pushes one's doggie stroller though central park at night ;)

Some of our friends live around that area .. and yes it was probably one of their nannies you saw ;) It's a very very different world indeed.

Ha ha! My mum-in-law just got back from the US with a photo of a dog-in-dog-pram in Boston. Too funny!
