Winding Mesh Scarf

by Kate on April 19, 2011

Confession: I can knit but I’m not a knitter.

I truly wish it were different as there are so many beautiful knitting patterns out there but I just don’t find it as relaxing as the hook and it all comes down to making a mistake. With the hook, it’s a simple undo and re-work…with the sticks, well it’s picking up stitches and the whole thing gets me into a major flap.

I’m determined though and bit by bit I am dipping my toes back into the land of knittery. Of course, that means I am sticking with super easy peasy projects (love to know of any that are tried and tested) and ‘the long [and winding] mesh’ was one of these.

I needed a few tips from Ev (who is knitter extraordinaire) which worked out well as I took some Wollmeise off her hands. It is the first time I have ever used Wollmeise and it didn’t disappoint…

The long winding mesh

Stunning, vibrant and saturated blue, blue, blue. Love it.

Project details can be found on ravelry.

It looks fabulous! Love the colour. I’ll bet it looks amazing with blue jeans and a plain white tee. I am the same but the other way around – I knit a bit but am scared of crochet. I’m determined to get going with it though when I finish my current knit.

I am a knitter… well, sort of. But last year I picked up the hook, and I totally get what you mean about the hook being more relaxing. Gorgeous blue yarn – I’ve yet to try wollmiese. It looks like you have done a great job.
You have beautiful eyes (well, I assume the other eye is as lovely! LOL ).

WOW! You did it! I’ve been eye-ing this one wondering if I could master that crazy stitch. It’s a very intriguing technique with interesting possibilities. Very cool!

The Wollmeise colours are amazing but it is so tricky to get them!

Wowzers! You’ve been up to all sorts of excellent stuff! How amazing is that blue?! Stunning and I’m sure it looks awesome on you.

I know what you mean about making a mistake in knitting. It totally does my head in. But one thing it does have over crochet in my book is there seems to be less constant counting. Although maybe my lack of counting in knitting is the reason behind all my mistakes … hmmm
