Another find

by Kate on August 10, 2011

I scored this stack on my last trip to Tyabb.

Vintage Books

Actually, it was Kirst who found these, I was elsewhere in the shed having a conniption over blue glass but that is beside the point. The point is, I think they were the ‘collective’ find of the day.

They are fantastic.

Ilustrations

The illustrations are superb, as are the messages in each book and the kids have been picking one each night to read. Win Win.

Wow, my brother and I had these books and they were so well read that I remember most fell apart eventually but there are still a few in the “toy box” at our parents’ house (40 years on).

My kids would have to promise to wear white gloves, not breathe and turn pages telepathically before I’d let ‘em within spitting distance of those treasures…

I recognized these straight away too:) We still have the 1966 editions my brother and I had as children on my kids bookshelf – they were very well loved back then!

Very cool. And the font is almost exactly the same as your blog font! Double cool!

I have a passon for books and I can tell you that everything about your picture is a wonder.
The colors of the spines-beautifully bold, the shelf wear-they were so loved, the titles-oh please, carry me out…… I love that Stories and Poems is the thickest just as it should be. Wish I was a little girl again, just for a day, but sharing loved books with children and grandchildren is even better. Enjoy!

I grew up with these books and still have mine. My mum bought them from someone selling door to door. It must have been in the early 70′s. Luckily my mum is a hoarder.

I read them endlessly. My children liked them but not as much as I did. Probably because I owned less books than they do.
