I have been wanting to knit socks for quite a while and have been urged on by the turn in weather as well as Angela’s and Amanda’s gorgeous creations. Now, I am fully aware of my personality downfalls and with this in mind I am going to tackle a project that looks manageable. Enter the [...]

My cousin and sister in law are both having babies this year which means lots of quick knitting projects. You can find the project details, for this hat here. In other news, I have just joined the Calico & Ivy team in Balmain. Sarah has done a really gorgeous job at setting up the store [...]

Christina and I started this project together as we were both new to knitting with dpn’s. I will admit that it is much easier than I thought it would be. Actually, I’ll go further and say that knitting with dpn’s is far better than the magic loop method, for me anyway. I finished these over [...]

Chris & I undertook this project together. It was great to have some encouragement because for a while there, I wondered if I would ever get it finished. The pattern itself is actually very simple but it is repetitive and gets a little tedious. I’m glad I persevered though, the wrap (& wool) transforms with [...]

I loved knitting this and I love the finished product even more. Knit in the smallest size (1-4) and made for my cousin’s little girl, Pia who will be 1 in May. Although it will be a little big for Pia to begin with, she should get quite a lot of wear out this. Maddie [...]

We are on a beach mini-break and like every beach holiday of ours, the weather is less than ideal. Before we left, I packed a knitting project and clearly remember thinking “I really should wind another ball but I am running out of time and really one should be enough, right? Fifteen rounds from completing [...]

After my capsule quilt marathon I know I won’t look at my machine for at least a month. We have that sort of relationship, I either just want to sew, sew, sew or I cannot stand looking at it. There have been some lovely knits popping up on ravelry and I am already planning my [...]

A test knit for Caroline. The shawl works up very quickly, was easy to modify and the yarn was sublime. A 50% baby alpaca 50% merino blend – it is quite possibly the softest, lightest wool around…albeit a little fluffy. I used two colours (instead of the three specified) and omitted a few sections to [...]

It’s taken a while but I have finally finished – hooray! Julie has done a beautiful job with the design and pattern. I think it is a great beginners project, but be prepared to knuckle down. There is a lot of stockinette stictch and trust me…that takes a while in fingering weight yarn. Overall, I [...]
my first ever knitted garment, decouverte. It is slowly taking shape, the back panel is completed and I am about to make a start on the two side panels. The yarn is wonderfully soft and I have been told that the unruly stitches trasnform with a wash and block. Watch this space.
