Squishy Love

by Kate on January 26, 2012

I loved knitting this and I love the finished product even more. Knit in the smallest size (1-4) and made for my cousin’s little girl, Pia who will be 1 in May. Although it will be a little big for Pia to begin with, she should get quite a lot of wear out this. Maddie […]

Holiday Knitting

by Kate on January 24, 2012

We are on a beach mini-break and like every beach holiday of ours, the weather is less than ideal. Before we left, I packed a knitting project and clearly remember thinking “I really should wind another ball but I am running out of time and really one should be enough, right? Fifteen rounds from completing […]

Happenings

by Kate on December 15, 2011

After my capsule quilt marathon I know I won’t look at my machine for at least a month. We have that sort of relationship, I either just want to sew, sew, sew or I cannot stand looking at it. There have been some lovely knits popping up on ravelry and I am already planning my […]

Douceur

by Kate on September 27, 2011

A test knit for Caroline. The shawl works up very quickly, was easy to modify and the yarn was sublime. A 50% baby alpaca 50% merino blend – it is quite possibly the softest, lightest wool around…albeit a little fluffy. I used two colours (instead of the three specified) and omitted a few sections to […]

Découverte

by Kate on September 1, 2011

It’s taken a while but I have finally finished – hooray! Julie has done a beautiful job with the design and pattern. I think it is a great beginners project, but be prepared to knuckle down. There is a lot of stockinette stictch and trust me…that takes a while in fingering weight yarn. Overall, I […]

Working on

by Kate on July 27, 2011

my first ever knitted garment, decouverte. It is slowly taking shape, the back panel is completed and I am about to make a start on the two side panels. The yarn is wonderfully soft and I have been told that the unruly stitches trasnform with a wash and block. Watch this space.

Catherine’s Shawl

by Kate on July 15, 2011

Tam and I have been knitting this project in tandem but I can tell you right now that hers will be far prettier than mine! The project itself is quite easy but I’m just not taken with it. The yarn is beautiful but the size is a little on the small size for me, I […]

Milo

by Kate on June 22, 2011

There is a reason why so many people have knitted up the Milo vest, the pattern is well written and the end result is pretty cute. It’s a funny thing but I just don’t get clucky when I see new babes but show me some baby clothes and I go ga-ga. I think the clothes […]

Simple Luxury Scarf

by Kate on June 16, 2011

I don’t need any more knocks to my knitting confidence so went with a quick and simple knit. Have you ever been to the Pickles site? If not, you should pop over. The girls are very clever and have lots of great knitting and crochet patterns, I could spend hours clicking around so consider yourself […]

…continued

by Kate on June 7, 2011

You may recall my recent rant on my inability to knit. I’m still mustering up the courage to have another crack at the sticks but in the meantime I have been alerted to (what I think is the most brilliant scheme ever) the ‘Australian Will Work For Yarn‘ group on Ravelry. It’s simple, you put […]
